An African-inspired tank top
A friend gave me some white fabric she had but wasn't using, so I decided to turn it into a tank top. Instead of leaving the top bland and plain, I thought I would jazz it up with some little rhinos, as the fight against rhino poaching is a huge cause here in South Africa.

  • How to make a tank top. Stamped Gradient Rhino Tank - Step 1
    Step 1

Cut out your desired shape from craft foam, and glue it to a base of some sort (I used an old lid). The lid I used was see-through, which was great, because it allows you to see where you're stamping.

Use a tailor's pen to draw a grid onto your shirt, to get your stamped pattern even. This isn't necessary, but it does help to get a more perfect-looking stamped pattern.

    Step 3

Start stamping your rhinos, starting light and getting progressively darker. I found starting light to be easiest, as it allows you to simply add more black paint to your grey to make it darker for each row.

Continue to stamp with darker and darker paint until you reach the end of the shirt.

Follow the paint's instructions for finishing (often to iron the back of the painted area) and rinse your top to remove tailor's pen marks.
