    Step 1

    Bits that I used :O)

    Step 2

I brought a cheap mobile phone leather? case with a clip - £1.99 (about $3) and then cut the back of the case leaving enough of the "leather" to sew to. (okay I cut a bit to close on this one and made it too square I'd advise keeping it circular)

    Step 3

I used a piece of cheap fake black velvet about 90 cm long and 18 cm across (35 inches by 7 inches) You can adjust this to suite your height and how long and fat you want your tail to be. You'll need a length of plastic corset boning a bit longer than the fabric about 100 cm (39 inches).

IMPORTANT: Make sure the "grain" of the fur runs down the tail it will be nicer to stroke :O)

    Step 4

Take the fabric and fold it over with the right side inwards (inside out) and the sew a seam along the open edge and at one end, sew a rounded end. You should end up with a long furry lined sock :O)

    Step 5

Alternative tail with a white tip...

Just take a small piece of white fake fur/velvet and sew it to the end a black piece, before you fold and make the sausage...

Check that the fur all lies in the same direction!

    Step 6

The long furry link sock. I should have mentioned that it's a good idea to experiment with a small scrap of the fabric to get the circumference of the tail right - as a mentioned earlier for me I found that about 18 cm (7 inches) was about right. It gave a circumference of about 16 cm allowing for the seam.

The clever ones amongst you could have done it mathematically and also calculated the diameter of the circle to cut on the phone case back...

    Step 7

Trim off the waste material on the rounded end and any wobbles on the seam. And now turn the tail right side out. If the tail seems too long now is the time to trim it. If it's too short - start again :O(

    Step 8

Take the length of corset boning and trim it to the length of inside of the tail plus about 4 cm (1.5 inches). If you want the tail to be stiffer, hot glue two pieces of corset boning together.

Stiffer makes for more swishy :O)

    Step 9

Fold the extra 4 cm bit down, if you have a heat gun before you bend it warm it up a bit so the plastic softens and doesn't break. Hairdryer works just as well...

    Step 10

Then hot glue the clip to the bent part of the boning with the extra circular bit facing the boning.

    Step 11

Wrap the wadding around the boning all the way up to the clip and then you need to slide the tail (sock) over the wadding covered corset boning.

This bit will take a bit of wiggling and tugging, try to keep the boning centred all the way down the tail.

    Step 12

Once you've pulled tail all the way on to the boning, sew around the "leather" phone case back to join it to the tail.

    Step 13

On this one I left far too little of the case around the clip and made the end square :O(

Yours will be lovely and round and look better :O)

Depending on the belt clip, you'll find that you can also attach it to tops by sliding it upwards.

All done, clip on you tail and meow...

You can get plastic corset boning from most sewing shops or haberdasheries aand it's cheap, it usually comes on a roll and so has a curl to it. That's why I stuck two bits back to back it makes the tail flick and move more.

I had tried using wire on an earlier version and it just stuck out and did look right Happy
