I love using origami to decorate, as paper is inexpensive and can be recycled when you are finished with it. These ornaments are based on the traditional water bomb origami, but I have threaded them on a tassel for hanging. They are quick and cheap to make and you can do them in different papers depending on the season. I did mine in pretty pastels for a springtime look, but these would look equally good for a birthday party, baby shower or in red, gold and green for Christmas.

I haven't included a tutorial showing how to do the origami water bomb. I did try doing a video but it wasn't the greatest. There are much better ones already out there. To make the tassel, take a piece of cardboard and fold it in half. The length of the folded cardboard will be the length of your tassel.
Starting at the open end of the cardboard, wrap embroidery floss around the width of the card. When it is the thickness you want, stop at the bottom of the card and trim the embroidery floss.
Take a second piece of embroidery floss on a needle and thread it under the floss wrapped round the card. Trim this to the length you want and knot the ends together. This is what you will use for hanging.
Carefully slide the wrapped floss from the card, keeping it taut.
Take another piece of floss on a needle and wrap it round the top of the tassel to hold it all together. Thread it under itself to secure and trim.
Now cut the bottom of the tassel so that the ends are free.
Thread your hanging string through a bead and then through the origami ornament, with the large hole at the bottom and poking through the top with a needle.
When you have done a few of these, hang on a string or a door handle. And you're done!
