This is called a rice stitch. I cast on 21 stitches on this scarf but if I were to do it again I would cast on 31. Cast on 31 Stitches. Row 1 (RS): p1, *k1 tbl, p1; rep from * Row 2 (WS): Knit repeat until desired length K1 tbl means Knit stitch through the back loop.
