Spraypainting Accessories

Syncronized to match

The quickest way to syncronize some of your accessories is to spraypaint them. Car-spraypaints (24 € a bottle) works best because they are more tolerant to use than regular spraypaint. Carpaint shops also have them available in any imaginable Pantone color... Possibilities are endless. The actual taping and painting does not take more than an hour. The paint WILL crack eventually. I´ve always been a fan of worn surfaces so for me it´s just better. But think of it this way, the shoes you will paint are propably the kind that you have not worn in a looong time. Spraypainting them will add times you are able to use them! Plus you can always re-paint the heel and shoetip when they get worn-looking (if you leave some paint in the can). I´ve been able to paint an averige 3-4 pairs of shoes from just one spray can.

Instructions

  1. Small 4436

These white slingbacks and a red pvc clutch needed a facelift. I decided to paint them HOT PINK to match my party outfit. First they had to be wiped clean of all the dust and sand..

  2. Small 4437

Then the inside had to be taped with painter´s tape to prevent paint from coloring the silver innersole.

  3. Small 4438

Also the bottom sole had to be taped up.

  4. Small 4439

(Paint outside if possile.) Now they have been spraypainted twice with a hot pink (full shine) spraypaint. Remember to spray the paint 20 cm away so the layer will be nice and even and there will be no dripps. Let the first layer dry max. 15 min before applying the second layer. It´s better that it is a bit damp when you apply the second coat of paint. This way the paint stayes on better. I bought this spray from a carpaintshop. About 24 € a bottle so it is three times a expencive as regular spraypaint, but it is also much more tolerant to use...

  5. Small 4440

The clutch had to be taped inside and filled with scrunched newspaper to keep it open. First I sprayed the inside, let it dry and then painted it again. NOTE! Don´t start painting the outside until the inside is finished!

  6. Small 4441

The I painted the outside twice. The newspapers inside the bag helped to keep the sides/ends open since they need to be as smooth as possible to achieve an even surface.

  7. Small 4442

Finished slingbacks after tapes and paper have been removed.

  8. Small 4443

Finished slingbacks and clutch after tapes and paper have been removed.

  9. Small 4444

I also spraypainted a pair of metal earrings to match the purse and heels while waiting the others to dry. I taped the earringhooks.
