Use a coloring book page to make an applique
This is a much cheaper alternative than expensive appliques.

I then used Heat & Bond iron on adhesive (I bought a roll at Walmart about 10 yrs. ago for $10 and still have over half of the roll and have made a lot of appliques using it already) on the scrap of yellow fabric and ironed it on to the back of the fabric.

I then used a page out of a coloring book to use as the template to make Spongebob on yellow fabric and cut him out, then ironed him on the tank top, then finished decorating him with fabric paints.
