Splatterpainted Tee

splatter away!

About

The pictured shirt has been cut across the top for a more feminine look. Either way they look amazing! I use acrylic paint found at any craft store. Walmart also sells it. It runs for about 2 bucks for the big bottle and 50 cents for the small bottle. I like using 5-7 colors, but that is totally optional. Have fun! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

You Will Need (6 things)

  • T Shirt
  • Newspaper
  • Tooth Brush
  • Acrylic Paint
  • 1 cup of Water
  • Paper Towels

Steps (4 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

First set up your area and gather supplies. I like having plenty of papertowels and a cup of water handy to clean the brush, also lay out newspaper to protect your surface, the paint goes everywhere! Put a sheet of cardboard inside your shirt to prevent paint from bleeding through to the other side.

For best results I like using an old toothbrush to splatter the paint. I prefer squeeze the paint on the bruch rather than dip the brush in the paint. Have a firm hold on the brush at all times, pull the tip back with your index finger, and let go. Kind of like a sling shot.

I recomend doing the darker colors first. Make sure you clean your brush between color changing, otherwise the splatters look like a mixture of not so cute colors.

  4. 4

I generally use about five to seven colors on my shirts. The shirt pictured has purple, turquoise, lime green, hot pink, neon orange, and lastly a few spots of a cloud blue. Let one side dry complpetely then flip over and do the other side.
