You Will Need (7 things)

  • 1 Shirt Cardboard
  • 1 Peel And Stick Glitter Foam Sheet
  • 1 Standard Clock Mechanism
  • Scrap Paper
  • 1 Small Wood Block
  • Double Sided Foam Tape
  • 1 Paper Clock Template Search For One Using Go Ogle

Steps (5 steps, 45 minutes)

  1. 1

    1) Begin by drawing a simple snowman body on the shirt cardboard. My snowman is approximately 6 ½ inches tall. I left the bottom of the snowman flat. Use the rest of the cardboard to cut out a three mound lump of snow. This will be stuck onto the front of the snowman’s base later on. Set this cardboard shape aside for the moment. Trace the cardboard snowman onto the back of the white or glitter foam sheet using a pencil. Cut the new snowman out and peel off the paper backing. Stick the new snowman body over the cardboard piece.

    2) Begin decorating the snowman body. Cut out a paper scarf and hat and carrot nose out of paper or foam and glue the pieces into place. Stick on the wiggle eyes, and use a marker to make a mouth. Cut and paste the paper clock template onto the mid section of the snowman’s body. Next, use some transparent tape to attach the chenille arms onto the back of the snowman. Use the nail or an awl to poke a hole through the center of the clock and out through the cardboard backing.

    3) I always add a piece of double sided foam tape to the clock mechanism to help hold it in place on the cardboard. Peel off the paper on the foam tape and push the mechanism through the back of the cardboard so that it comes through to the center front of the clock face. Attach the washer and bolt as instructed in the clock kit. Push on the hour hand, set the minute hand in place and secure with the tiny bolt and then snap on a second hand. A second hand will help a child to visualize that the clock is indeed working, so if you can get one, I highly recommend it. Pop in a battery and watch the second hand move. Attach the mound of snow to the front of the snowman with an additional piece of foam tape.
