I fell in love with this Sleepy Santa but wanted a cuddly one, not one made of polystyrene so I used a Waldorf Doll tutorial (http://www.flickr.com/photos/29184580@N04/sets/72157617798912890/with/3508155027/) to make the basic doll.

The slippers were made using a modified template http://www.sewnews.com/articles/Cozy_Toes and the leftovers from a reindeer pom pom kit from staples.

The pyjamas were two rectangles joined with a crutch J cut out and the nightshirt a T shape. I bound the neck with Red bias binding and hand stitched 3 green tiny buttons from hobbycraft - you get about 50 of them for 99p.

The dressing gown was made from a flared T shape from red fleece and edged around the cuffs with leftover stripy material. his belt is a bit of piping cord.

Santa was stuffed with batting fluff and his hair and beard were made from it too, teased out and sewn into place.

The candle is an adapted polystyrene mushroom upside down with a felt candle flame.
