Skeleton Hand Bow Headband

A headband that flirts the line between creepy and cute.

I realize now that because I only have the one mold that it sort of looks like I’ve just been ritualistically sacrificing left handed people, so I decided to face them away from each other so it would be less conspicuous. This would be a great little craft to make if you’re not someone that really enjoys dressing up in costume for the most important holiday of the year, but you still want to feel festive. It’s also dead simple and doesn’t take much time at all. I always hate the waiting game that comes along with a lot of these projects because I’m so close to being done I just have to wait for time to catch up with me.

Instructions

  1. Small 111495 2f2015 10 15 141702 img 7854

Start by taking a square of tulle and pinching it in the middle to form your bow shape. I used a few squares stacked on top of each other. Then sew it into place until you get the exact shape you’re looking for. You could do this with glue but it would be messy and stiff.

Next glue on your embellishments. I made the skeleton hands out of clay so that was easy enough, and I found the button at a craft store. You do have to let this set before you attach it to the headband or it will just fall off.

  3. Small 111495 2f2015 10 15 141722 img 78651

Then you just glue it to whatever side of the headband you like. I will say that for larger embellishments like this I use a thicker headband because a thinner one wouldn’t have the proper surface area to help this adhere correctly. Then you just let the piece dry in place and you can wear it as soon as you feel like. For more info: https://theyearlingblog.wordpress.com/2015/10/08/day-281-skeleton-hand-bow-headband/
