Silky Fleece Lined Triangle Scarf

To add some glamour and warmth around my neck this winter, I paired a beautiful silky white and black scarf with some very practical fleece.

This is a triangle scarf, which I wear tied around my neck with a big knot at the back like a bandana. I’m sure there are plenty of other clever ways to wear it as well. What I really love about this project is that it is so easy! This could definitely be a beginner’s sewing project. One more thing- it can be thrown in the washing machine when necessary!

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Fabric Scissors
  • Needle And Thread Or Sewing Machine
  • One large square Scarf , at least 85cm x 85cm
  • Fleece, same size as Scarf

Steps (7 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

Fold scarf in half to form a large triangle. With a sharp scissor, cut along fold.

  2. 2

On a large work surface, lay scarf on top of fleece and align outer edges. Cut the fleece into the same size as the scarf.

  3. 3

Lay fleece flat on work surface with the scarf on top, wrong side up. Align all edges and pin the two pieces together.

  4. 4

Starting at one corner and using a 1cm seam, sew the fleece and scarf together along the three sides of the triangle stopping 10cm before reaching the starting corner, leaving a small gap. Remove pins.

  5. 5

Through the small unsewn gap, turn the scarf inside out so that the right side of the scarf faces out.

  6. 6

Fold down unstitched top edges inward 1cm, or so they match with the rest of the scarf; press and pin.

  7. 7

Sew the pinned section together and remove pins. Finish by trimming any hanging threads.
