Siege & Storm Shawl

striped single ply shawl

Half circular shawl worked all in garter stitch featuring two single ply yarns. The two yarns used in this project were single ply yarns and though one is called sport and one fingering weight, both (to me) are closer to fingering weight. A great project to use one of your speckled yarns with a solid from your stash. Also garter stitch makes for easy, mindless knitting while the stripes add just a bit of interest so you don’t get too bored. This is a collaborative project with Elaine Jason. Skill Level Easy Finished Measurements 60 1/2 inches wide x 17 1/2 inches deep at widest point Materials Plymouth Yarn Estilo Hand Dyed (sport weight; 80% superwash merino wool/20% mulberry silk; 381 yds/100g per hank): 1 hank black/red mix #4 (A) Plymouth Yarn Incan Spice (fingering weight; 45% extrafine merino/25% baby alpaca/15% yak/15% mulberry silk; 218 yds/50g per ball): 1 ball slate #5 (B) Size 7 (4.5mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge Stitch markers Gauge 20 sts and 38 rows = 4 inches/10cm in garter st (blocked). Gauge is not critical to this project.
