You Will Need (9 things)

  • Cardstock
  • Felt
  • Sewing Thread
  • Sewing Machine
  • Craft Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencils
  • Pinking Shears
  • Scissors

Steps (6 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Start by cutting out a back-rectangle of dark grey card, measuring 20x9cm. Next a red rectangle-16x8cm-use the craft scissors for this one to give it a pretty edge-I used one with “Ripped Paper”-effect. Draw a small Dala Horse on a piece of dark grey card and cut out; cut a small heart out of red felt and lastly cut a white felt strip measuring 7x2cm-cut the top part with the pinking shears, to give the effect of fallen snow.

  2. 2

Attach the horse to the red rectangle`s lower part with red thread on the sewing machine. The machine usually has difficulty grabbing the paper, so you will need to push it gently along, as you sew or it will stand in one spot and destroy the card.

  3. 3

Change the machine to white sewing thread-cut out a simple snowflake out of white felt and attach it to the front patch, then switch back to red and attach the little felt heart in the centre of the snowflake.

  4. 4

This changing of thread might drive you just a little bit mad-but it will all be worth it in the end, I promise! Switch back to white thread and attach the “snow” just under the horse.

  5. 5

Place the decorated front patch on top of the dark grey back patch and sew on three sides-make sure you leave the top open for your cutlery!

  6. 6

Now, all you need to do is make one of these for each of your guests and set your winter dinner table and you will have the prettiest seasonal dinner table for sure!
