It was cheaper and time saving to buy the wooden beaded cranberry garland and take it apart, and the up part was the beads were already painted. The pencils were painted in stages, all the eyes were made by dipping the straight pin into the black paint..perfect size for eyes. I used white, a couple shades of tan, and black. After all the painting and drying were finished, I cut a loop of cord and tied it into a knot, fed it through a bead, and hot glued the bead to the end of the pencil. One of my favorite Christmas Ornaments!
