Instructions

  1. Small step 1

Start with your super large sweater of your choice,

  2. Small step 2

Cut just under the arms of your sweater in a straight line.

  3. Small step 3

Fold this piece in half and cut out the shape you want your skirt to be.

  4. Small step 5

Take what will be your back piece and fold it in half.

  5. Small step 6

Cut this piece in half down the fold line.

  6. Small step 7

Cut your two back pieces into trapizoids.

  7. Small step 8

Place your front skirt piece and your two back skirt pieces right sides together. Pin along sides and sew.

  8. Small step 8.1

Finish the raw edges along your skirt back piece,

  9. Small step 10

Take your cotton fabric and cut another trapizoid piece that is the length of your skirt by the width you want it + seam allowances. Finish the edges of this piece.

  10. Small step 12

Gather the fabric, trims and laces you want to use for your ruffles. Finish any raw edges.

  11. Small step 13

To make easy quick ruffles set the tension on your sewing machine to the highest number and your stitch length to the longest setting. Sew in a straight line and you will see instant gathers on light weight fabric.

  12. Small step 15

Begin to pin and sew your ruffles on working from the bottom up.

  13. Small step 16

    .

  14. Small step 17

Carefully pin and sew your ruffle gusset two your skirt back pieces. Be careful to not catch your ruffles.

  15. Small step 21

Next take your left over piece of sweater and remove the sleeves any neckline.

  16. Small step 22

Cut 8 identical rectangles in to fit your waist measurment. (note: sweater material stretches so it's ok if you cut it a little small.)

  17. Small step 24

Pin and sew right sides together of your pieces so you have 2 waist bands.

  18. Small step 25

Place your two waist bands with right sides together and sew along top.

  19. Small step 26

Pin your waist band right sides together to your skirt and pin and sew down.

  20. Small step 27

Flip your waist band right sides out and pin and sew your waist band down into the inside of your skirt.
