Description

Crisscross tiny strands of hair for an elaborate look that's surprisingly easy to do.

Instructions

  1. Start by adding a little texturizing spray to your hair, then gather it all back with your hands. Split your hair in half and hold one half in each hand.

  2. Small 111036 2f2015 09 15 072537 screen%2bshot%2b2015 09 15%2bat%2b08.25.18

Take a sliver of hair from the far side of your right section and bring it over to the left, merging it completely with the left section.

  3. Small 111036 2f2015 09 15 072612 screen%2bshot%2b2015 09 15%2bat%2b08.25.40

Keep trading slivers back and forth between the sections, gathering a sliver from the far side of a section, crossing over the gap between the two sections, and incorporating it into the second section. Try to keep the slivers the same size so your braid is even. And make sure you’re holding your hair tightly at the braid’s base for the first few swaps to keep all the crisscrosses in place.

When you get to the nape of your neck, drape your hair around one shoulder to continue the braid, bringing one arm under your chin and across your chest to keep braiding. The sections should get smaller and tighter.

  5. Small 111036 2f2015 09 15 072628 screen%2bshot%2b2015 09 15%2bat%2b08.25.52

When you run out of hair, finish the braid off with a small rubber band. To create extra-touchable texture and make the braid wider, grab your braid from both sides and pull outward. Start at the bottom of your braid and stretch it as you work your way up to the top.
