About

When planning for a Halloween party my friend showed me how to roast pumpkin seeds for a neat-o snack. After mixing around with several ingredients i came up with the ultimate recipe. As for the seeds i got mine directly from carving pumpkins with my brother. I believe you can get raw pumpkin seeds in stores but its more fun to dig them out of the pumpkin. I am an Old Bay addict so i just had to sprinkle some on :D. The result was spicy and yummy. It tastes a bit like sunflower seeds and popcorn.

I also uploaded the photo of my Domo pumpkin :D.

You Will Need (5 things)

  • Old Bay Seasonings
  • Pumpkin Seeds
  • 4 tbsp Melted Butter
  • 3 tsp Garlic Salt
  • 1 tbsp Salt

Steps (6 steps, 20 minutes)

  1. 1

Remove seeds from pumpkin and put in a large bowl with warm water (it helps that the seeds float in the water). If there is some pumpkin pulp, try to remove the large pieces.

    OR:
Purchase raw pumpkin seeds from store (obviously not the gardening type!)

  2. 2

SKIP THIS STEP IF YOU PURCHASED THE SEEDS:

Do as best as you can to remove all of the pulp and "strings" attached to the seeds. This isnt too difficult if you rub the seeds between your hands vigorously.
Rinse again and spread seeds on a paper towel to dry them some.

  3. 3

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.

  4. 4

Spread the seeds on to a cookie sheet with cooking spray on it.

  5. 5

Concoct mixture of garlic salt, melted butter, salt, and Old Bay if you want some spice.

Baste the seeds with the butter mixture and pop in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them. They will eventually start to "whistle" and pop, after 2 minutes of whistling they should be done.

  6. 6

    Remove from oven and ENJOY!
