About

If you love to read, but find that your books are always falling over and cluttering up your room, just make some custom bookends to keep your books up and add a bit of flair to your book display.

You can cover your bookends with anything you want, from scrapbook paper to acrylic paint! This project uses rhinestones, but if they aren’t your thing, studs, or even scrapbook paper and a bit of Mod Podge, would look great. These bookends will add that extra little touch to your books and make you want to sit down and read—especially if your mini-library comes with its own reading nook!

You Will Need (3 things)

  • 2 (8 Letters /symbols
  • 4 (4 Rhinestone sheets
  • Utility Knife (such as an X-Acto)

Steps (4 steps, 35 minutes)

  1. 1

Start by laying your rhinestone sheet against the wooden letter. Leave on the backing so you can decide where you want to place it first.

  2. 2

Peel the backing off of the rhinestone sheet and stick it down to the wooden letter.

  3. 3

Use the utility knife to cut off any parts of the rhinestone sheet that are sticking over the edges or covering the inside spaces of the letter.

  4. 4

Reuse the excess pieces that you cut off as needed to fill in any empty spaces on the letter. Feel free to use more than one full sheet, if necessary. Repeat the same process with your second wooden shape or symbol. Place the bookends on your shelf to keep those books in line!
