Description

This quick and satisfying project will be sure to increase your sewing pleasure. Stained, ratty ironing board covers can be dispiriting, and a simple reversible cover is surprisingly uplifting and may even motivate you to sew more!

Instructions

  1. Small 2021 06 27 205445 reversibleironingboardcover 01

    1. Press and place the fabric pieces with right sides facing on a large surface (or if using the same fabric for both sides, fold in half right sides facing). Trace your ironing board onto the top fabric. Add 4 inches all around.

  2. Small 2021 06 27 205748 reversibleironingboardcover 02

Cut out fabrics. I used an off-white cotton/linen blend on one side and a natural linen for the other side.

  3. Small 2021 06 27 205900 reversibleironingboardcover 03

With right sides facing, sew 1/4" from edge, leaving an opening of about 4".

  4. Small 2021 06 27 205952 reversibleironingboardcover 04

Clip curves, turn right side out and press, folding in the seam allowance at the opening. Stitch 1/2" from outer edge to create elastic casing.

  5. Small 2021 06 27 210053 reversibleironingboardcover 05

Thread elastic through opening and make sure that the cover fits snugly on the ironing board. Double check that the elastic isn't twisted and zig zag stitch elastic ends together, then slip stitch opening closed. All done!
