    Step 1

first chose your fabrics and cut 16"X12" piece of each. this will be the main body of the bag

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 2
    Step 2

i wanted pockets so take some scrap fabric and make them any size you want. i also added velcro to them. sew them onto the right sides in the center of the bag

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 3
    Step 3

now fold right sides together of each fabric and sew along the longer edge

  • Step 4

now we're going to make the bottom piece. get your fabric and fold them in half. along the fold, measure 8" down. then measure out 4.5" from the middle of the 8". then draw out the arches to make a half circle. cut it out and now you should have a nice circle of fabric

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 5
    Step 5

now you're going to pin the circle pieces to the body. fold the body inside out then pin the circle along the bottom all the way around
(sorry if the photo isn't very clear)

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 6
    Step 6

now now cut out flaps from both fabrics and pin them onto the bags. sew them on

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 7
    Step 7

take some fabric and sew a small loop like this. it will be the thing that keeps the bag closed

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 8
    Step 8

now fold one of the bags inside out then put the other one in it. insert the little loop you just made inside the tip of the flap. pin and sew all along the opening and flap of the bag leaving a small space open so you can turn it right side out.

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 9
    Step 9

turn right side out and sew up the small hole. at this point i also made some straps out of fabric (not photo) and sewed a button onto each end of the straps. i then cut 2 holes near the top of the bag and 2 at the bottom so i can attach the straps and take them off when reversing the bag.

  • How to make a backpack. Reversible Backpack - Step 10
    Step 10

sew on some buttons for the flap and you have a cool reversible bag. go and carry your belongings!!!

sorry for the confusion. so you want to turn one of the bags inside-out then put the other bag inside it so that the right sides of each bag are touching then sew all the way around leaving a small hole to turn the bags rightside out (you will stitch this small hole up by hand after) does this help?

I'm a bit confused on step 8, do we put one bag right side out IN a bag which is wrong side out?
