Boy's fanny pack revamped into a girly one
I had planned on purchasing a fanny pack to use on a trip to an amusement park but my son dug out one he had used when he was younger. When I mentioned it was ugly and would clash my outfit (it was the orange as shown in the second picture) he said "you could always paint it" - so that is what I did and also added a flower to make it more girly.

I used the masking tape to tape over the zippers to avoid getting paint on them.

I used four coats of purple acrylic paint and allowed to dry approx 30 mins between each coat. It didn't cover the orange completely - had an almost chameleon quality where it looks like different colors depending on how the light hits it, which I really liked so I didn't add any more coats. If you wanted a more solid uniform color, I would think you would need 2-4 more coats.

I then sprayed the pack with clear acrylic spray paint to seal the acrylic paint and then removed the masking tape.

For the embellishment, I made a stoned and twisted flower from scraps (http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/twisted-stoned-flowers-2), but any flower would do.
