Instructions

  1. Small 115852 2f2017 02 10 163040 img 3644

For this project, you'll need some silver or grey fabric. I was lucky enough to find some quilted leather which looked perfect. Print out the template onto paper and cut out.

  2. Small 115852 2f2017 02 10 164236 img 3645

Fold the fabric in half and pin the template onto the fabric.

  3. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 165517 img 3646

Cut around the template, leaving a 1/2" seam allowance.

  4. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 165712 img 3647

Before removing the pins, carefully snip around the seam allowance cutting 1/2" snips all the way around.

  5. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 165802 img 3648

Unpin the template from the trailer fabric and then use the template to cut a rectangle for the door.

  6. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 165838 img 3649

Do the same for the window, cutting a silver rectangle.

  7. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 165859 img 3650

Then cut another window from clear vinyl.

  8. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 165928 img 3651

Carefully cut a smaller window shape from the middle of the silver rectangle for the window so that you're left with a 1/4" window frame.

  9. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170637 img 3660

Cut four small leather circles to fit inside the large buttons.

  10. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170013 img 3652

Pin the door in place on the front of one of the trailer pieces. Pin the window frame in place with the clear vinyl window behind it.

  11. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170116 img 3662

    Sew the door in place.

  12. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170437 img 3663

    Sew the window in place.

  13. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170145 img 3653

Get a zip that's long enough to fit around the top edge of your trailer.

  14. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170239 img 3656

Cut a rectangle of silver fabric to the length of your zip and 4" wide.

  15. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170308 img 3657

Cut this strip in half down the middle.

  16. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170329 img 3658

Pin the zip in the middle of the two strips.

  17. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170359 img 3661

Sew the zip in place, removing the pins as you go.

  18. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170746 img 3664

With the wrong sides facing out, pin strip with the zipper around the edge of the front trailer piece so that it's 1/2" in from the edge.

  19. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 170914 img 3665

    it should look like this.

  20. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 171009 img 3666

    Sew in place.

  21. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 171024 img 3667

Pin the back trailer piece to the other side of the strip with the zipper like this.

  22. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 171105 img 3668

  23. Small 115852 2f2017 02 13 171539 img 3669

Your zip should look like this.

  24. Small 115852 2f2017 02 15 131055 img 3671

Finally, cut a rectangle of fabric for the bottom of the washbag and pin to the bottom 1/2" in from the edge.

  25. Small 115852 2f2017 02 15 131200 img 3672

Unzip the top of the bag and sew the bottom in place.

  26. Small 115852 2f2017 02 15 131219 img 3673

Cut off any excess fabric from the seam allowance and turn the bag inside out.

  27. Small 115852 2f2017 02 15 131244 img 3674

Using a sewing needle, stitch the buttons for wheels on to each corner of the bag.

  28. Small 115852 2f2017 02 15 131357 img 3676

I glued a metal number on the door - we stayed in rocket number 3.

  29. Small 115852 2f2017 02 15 131421 img 3677

Finally, turn the bag inside out and cut away the inner fabric from the window.
