a groovy colourful qulit for a groovy boy or girl
I was trying to find a colourful and retro inspired blanket or quilt for my son when he was born and extensive searches in shops and online, came up with nothing. So I decided to make one myself! I used lots of fabric scraps and an old cot sheet which had groovy alphabet graphic panels with quirky 60's style creatures and objects to represent each letter. I cut out squares of a roughly similar size in enough fabrics to make up the size of the front panel.I layered a few plain flannel cot sheets, with one rainbow panel for the lining.I then pieced it together and rearranged the colourful squares until they looked right and then sewed them into strips and then sewed the strips together. I lined it with two layers of flannelfor warmth .
