a "round" about way of looking cute :-)

I love the idea of adding a flower to an earwarmer, but I also like to keep things simple. I was inspired by a pair of mittens that used this retro design as small accents on the wrists. I thought to myself, "That is really creative... I bet that would look cute as the main design... not just an accent..." Thus, my Retro Earwarmer was created!

Instructions

EAR BAND ch 5 (increase) Row 1: sc across starting in 2nd ch, 2 sc in last ch (5 sc total), chain 1, turn Row 2: sc in each chain, 2 sc in the last chain (6 sc total), ch 1, turn Row 3: sc in each chain, 2 sc in the last chain (7 sc total), ch 1, turn Row 4: sc in each chain, 2 sc in the last chain (8 sc total), ch 1, turn Row 5: sc in each chain, 2 sc in the last chain (9 sc total), ch 1, turn Row 6: sc in each chain, 2 sc in the last chain (10 sc total), ch 1, turn Row 7: sc in each chain, 2 sc in the last chain (11 sc total), ch 1, turn (band) Rows 8-35: sc crochet in each chain, chain 1, turn (The amount of rows can be increased or decreased to your liking. (decrease) Row 36: sc in every ch except the last ch, ch 1, turn (10 sc total) Row 37: sc in every ch except the last ch, ch 1, turn (9 sc total) row 38: sc in every ch except the last ch, ch 1, turn (8 sc total) Row 39: sc in every ch except the last ch, ch 1, turn (7 sc total) Row 40: sc in every ch except the last ch, ch 1, turn (6 sc total) Row 41: sc in every ch except the last ch, ch 1, turn (5 sc total) Row 42: sc in every ch except the last ch, ch 1, turn (4 sc total) Put it together :-) Line up the ends of your earband, sc across the top in order to sew them together.

  2. RETRO FLOWER I play this one by ear. so, instructions are general and adjustable. ch 8 Round 1: dc as many dc's as possible without over crowding or causing the circle to bend/wave, sl st in 1st dc, ch 2 Round 2: dc in every st, sl st in 1st dc of that round Round 3: dc in every other st, sl st in 1st dc of that round BAM! Retro ;-)

  3. SEW THAT MUG ON! Pick a nifty place to sew your retro shape flower thing onto your earband. Take a long strand (1.5 ft should be fine) of the yarn you used for your shape. Secure your shape onto your earband by weaving your piece of yarn through the edges of the shape onto the band. Try not to skip to many stitches so that your sewing yarn won't be easily seen. Once you've gone all the way around your shape and it's now sew onto your band, secure by tying the two loose ends together (these should be on the inside of your band) and weave in loose ends. Now you have an awesome retro earband to keep you warm! Aren't you so smart :-)
