Update an old, scuffed-up coffee table for your living room. A little paint and pattern can go a long way!

  • How to make a painted table. Restyled Coffee Table - Step 1
    Step 1

    Lightly sand the coffee table and wipe off any dust.

  • Step 2

    We wanted to cover the sides of this old coffee table. To do this, we measured the unwanted areas and used scissors to cut balsa wood to fit over the existing design.

  • Step 3

    Prime the coffee table with a primer. Once dry, paint 2 to 3 coats of white gloss latex paint, allowing drying time in between each coat.

    Step 4

    Use scissors to cut 2-inch long pieces of electrical tape and lay the pieces next to each other at different heights to create a zigzag pattern.
