Description

I am an avid fan of sci/fi and fantasy and also a lover of cutesy and miniatures! This combines the two in a cute wearable way! These could also be used to make a charm bracelet or keychain!

Instructions

  1. Small img 1740

Gather the supplies: +Easy Cast Resin (or your fave brand) +Tiny Glass bottles with corks (found a variety in the jewelry section at Hobby Lobby) +E-6000 (to glue the corks in) +Clamps (found these at the Dollar Tree) +Acrylic Paint (If you want opaque potions) +Glitter (Any color or shape: I found these tiny bottles of mylar and hexagon glitter in 8 packs in the nail section of the Dollar Tree) +Plastic Spoon and Paper Cup (for measuring and mixing) +Headpins (for stirring in the glitter)

  2. Small img 1731

Measure a level spoon of resin (this brand uses white ink on the bottle) and pour into the paper cup.

  3. Small img 1732

Measure a level spoon of hardener (this brand uses black ink on the bottle) and pour into the paper cup. Mix slowly to prevent air bubbles but thouroughly for about a minute.

  4. Small img 1743

Pick out the bottles you plan to use.

  5. Small img 1746

Using a clamp will help hold the bottle upright while pouring and while the resin sets. You can also use whatever you have on hand to support the bottles.

  6. Small img 1747

If you want some potions with a clear base you can go ahead and pour resin into those bottles. It helps if you pinch the paper cup it will make a litte pour spout. Try to leave some space at the top for the cork.

  7. Small img 1749

For opaque base potions add a drop or two of acrylic paint to the resin and mix thoroughly.

  8. Small img 1751

Now pour your opaque potion into the bottle.

  9. Small img 1754

Pour the glitter of your choice into the bottles. The pink one shown here is made with mylar glitter.

  10. Small img 1755

Use the head pin to push the glitter down into the resin and stir it around. You can add glitter to the opaque base too but it may not be seen as well as in the clear base. *The glitter has a tendancy to sink so keep checking off and on and stirring or adding more glitter if needed*

  11. Small img 1756

There may be air bubbles in the tops of the heart humps or the arms of the star. A headpin bent like a hook can help reach those hard to reach spots to pop the bubbles.

  12. Small img 1762

Use a napkin to clean up the bottle neck if needed. Let the resin set for 24 hours.

  13. Small img 1797

Once the resin has set check the length of the corks. As you can see here I filled the pink too full and now the cork doesn't fit in.

  14. Small img 1799

If this happens to you too simply use an exacto knife to trim some of the cork off.

  15. Small img 1801

Using the E-6000 apply a thin layer around the bottom of the cork.

  16. Small img 1800

Press the corks into place and let the glue dry for 12-24 hours.

  17. Small img 1845

Once the glue has dried we can add the pendants to a necklace chain. Start with using the pliers to open a split ring.

  18. Small img 1846

Slide the pendant onto the split ring. For the star I slide the split ring into one of the link of the chain to keep it stationary. For the heart I put the split ring over the whole chain so it could slide freely. Close the split ring.

    Enjoy your potions!
