I have made more than one version of this skirt and all are completely different. This skirt is from a McCall's Historical Costume pattern 4090. There are 4 different skirts possible, I made view B. In addition to the basic taffeta skirt and organza overskirt I also made a train that isn't in the pattern. The train is detachable and made from scraps left over from making the taffeta underskirt. Its basically 2 elongated triangles, one almost floor length and one about half that length, that are narrow hemmed around the edges then simply gathered into 'ponytails' and draped with a little pouf. They are tied with wide organza ribbon and the top (smaller) one is decorated with a purchased silk flower hair clip converted to a pin. I embellished the top of the train where it snaps onto the skirt with BIG SNAPS with more organza ribbon and some small beaded pins that I made. I trimmed the seams of the overskirt by sewing on a very narrow metallic trim with small (size 15) crystal beads but this is totally optional. This is a full skirt that can be worn with a hoop. I love it, it swishes when you walk. The taffeta and organza were on sale at 60%off at JoAnne's after Thanksgiving so it was reasonable to make.
