Description

This is an easy way to refresh a dated or slightly damaged thrift store wooden bowl or wooden spoons.

Instructions

  1. Small 114575 2f2016 06 22 033950 img 6534

First prep the surface of your thrift store find by sanding lightly. This is to help adhere the paint. Once sanded, wipe the dust off of the surface and start painting the surface with paint. I would use acrylic in a bright colour.

  2. Small 114575 2f2016 06 22 033956 img 6554

Add 2-3 coats of acrylic paint to the surface. For this DIY, I would only paint the outside of the bowl. Allow to dry.

  3. Small 114575 2f2016 06 22 034002 img 6559

If necessary, clean the edges gently with either a wet cloth or sandpaper.

  4. Small 114575 2f2016 06 22 034016 img 6564

After the paint is at opacity you want, allow to dry.

  5. Small 114575 2f2016 06 22 034026 img 6565

Add 2-3 coats of Mod Podge to the dry surface. Allow to dry between coats.

    Now you're done!

Try this DIY on other thrift store treasures.

Even wooden salad spoons. When updating items that will touch food use Beeswax to seal the paint.
