Description

I know there are lots of versions of this activity, but here is mine. I did this with a group of children aged 2 -5, so its a good child based activity.

Instructions

  1. Small photo 9

Start by removing all the paper from your crayons. The better crayons like this brand don't leave a weird white residue on the crayons when you have finished... but it really doesn't matter. Then preheat your oven to about 350 degrees.

  2. Small photo 8

Break all the crayons into bits, not too small or too big. If its tii big it will take longer to melt later. This is a job the kids can help with.

  3. Small photo 7

Place your broken crayons in the silicone moulds. You can use a baking tray, but you will need to grease. I found the silicone ones just peel away with less chance of breaking the finished crayon. I colour coded mine, blues / greens, orange / yellow ect You can use whatever colours you like! YAY!

  4. Small photo 5

Sprinkle on Glitter, for some crayon razzmatazz!!!

  5. Small photo 3

Place your baking stuff on a tray and in the oven for about 10 mins. They may need more if some larger bits haven't melted, but really, it doesn't matter. Keep an eye on it. When you take them out, they should look like this! Leave them to cool - place in fridge or freezer for quicken setting time, especially when working with children.

Take the crayons out carefully and VOILA! awesome sauce crayons with glitter in really cute shapes! I love the Mickey Mouse ones!
