An easy and fun way to make a jewellery stand
This project can easily be adapted to match any theme you like. I've used a spare copy of Alice in Wonderland to decorate mine and will include how to make my version, but there are a million ways to decorate it...

Some good ideas might be to use a clear bottle and fill it with sand, shells and coloured water, or glass beads and pretty sparkly things. Alternatively you could use an iconic looking bottle, such as a Jack Daniels bottle, and keep it looking pretty much how it is.

Have fun :)

  • How to make a necklace organizer. Recycled Bottle Jewellery Organiser - Step 1
    Step 1

You need a glass bottle with a screw-top lid.It needs to be tall enough that all your jewellery won't trail on the table too much when hung from the top. A wine bottle will work well. Take off any plastic or paper labels if you're planning on decorating it, or leave them on if you want to keep it looking how it is.

    Step 2

Take the screw top lid off, and using a needle, carefully poke a hole in it about half way down. It's a bit tough to push through but as long as your needle isn't too flimsy it should be fine. Then push the needle through to the other side to make another hole opposite.

Do this 3 more times, so that you have 8 holes in total, at equal intervals around the circle.

    Step 3

Take a piece of wire about 30cm long. Push it outwards through one of the holes, and then back in through the hole next to it, leaving a loop big enough to fit your finger through on the outside. Pull the wire through so that it is an equal length on both sides.

    Step 4

Now thread the wire into the next available hole, then back in to the next one along, and so on until you have four loops. Tie the end to one of the loops on the inside, then with the remaining half of the wire, do the same the other way, making loops in between the loops you've already made.

If it's difficult to fit the wire through the holes, poke the needle through again and wiggle it a bit to make the hole larger before you push the wire through.

    Step 5

Once you have all 8 loops, tie the loose end of the wire to another bit to secure it. Make sure it's secure by pulling each loop gently out as far as they can go.

Using a glue gun or some PVA, put a circle of glue around the inside of the lid.

Then stick the lid on top of the bottle. It will probably need to sit on top of the rim because the wire inside the lid means it can't be screwed all the way down.

    Step 7

Now you can decorate the outside of your bottle whichever way you would like. I used ripped up pages of Alice in Wonderland, glued on with a PVA and water mix. For the lid, use small strips of paper and fit them around the wires.

Keep going until you've covered the whole bottle. I then used paint and decorative chalks to add some vintage style brown tones, and sealed with mod podge.

    Step 9

Once your bottle is dry, attach the rest of the wire to a loop at the back.

    Step 10

Wrap the wire around the neck of the bottle, adding beads and loops as you go. The loops can be used as more places to hang your jewellery from.

    Step 11

Add your finishing decorative touches, and then when it's all dry, hang your necklaces and bracelets from the loops at the top to stop them from getting tangled up :)
