This project was almost a craft gone bag. My machine needle snapped and I managed to slice my finger on a pair of scissors, getting blood all over my sewing machine :(. It was worth it though.

Description

This project was almost a craft gone bag. My machine needle snapped and I managed to slice my finger on a pair of scissors, getting blood all over my sewing machine :(. It was worth it though.

Instructions

  1. Small record1 o 1300036811

Use your record as a template and trace around it on the the leather.

  2. Small record2 o 1300037126

    Draw two.

  3. Small record5 o 1300037407

Find a zip measuring about 7" long.

  4. Small record6 o 1300037773

Cut two rectangles of fabric measuring just over 7" x 1.5" wide.

  5. Small record7 o 1300037750

Pin these to either side of the zip.

  6. Small record8 o 1300037742

    Sew in place.

  7. Small record9 o 1300039025

    Check the zip works.

  8. Small record3 o 1300037227

Now measure around the circumference of the record and draw a rectangle measuring the circumference minus the length of the zip by 3" wide.

  9. Small record4 o 1300037252

Cut this out along with the two circular pieces leaving a seam allowance.

  10. Small record10 o 1300042882

Take one circular piece and the rectangle.

  11. Small record11 o 1300043271

Lay the rectangle down, right side facing up and pin the circle on top, right side facing down.

  12. Small record12 o 1300043286

    Pin around the entire circumference.

  13. Small record13 o 1300043322

Now attach the rectangle with the zipper in the remaining space.

  14. Small record14 o 1300043352

Sew around the circumference, stitching both rectangles in place.

  15. Small record15 o 1300043365

Leave the area where the zip and second rectangle overlap unstitched.

  16. Small record16 o 1300043497

Attach the second circle in a similar way.

  17. Small record17 o 1300043511

    Sew in to place.

  18. Small record18 o 1300043604

Now make the strap from a rectangle of fabric measuring around 4" x 40".

  19. Small record19 o 1300043662

Fold in half so that the wrong side of the fabric is facing out and pin along one edge.

  20. Small record20 o 1300045518

    Sew along this edge.

  21. Small record21 o 1300045541

Turn the strap right side out.

  22. Small record22 o 1300045588

Turn the bag right way out and fold the rectangle neatly under where it meets the zip.

  23. Small record23 o 1300045595

Place the straps inside the openings at either side of the zip and pin.

  24. Small record25 o 1300045637

Turn right side out and sew along the circumference.

  25. Small record26 o 1300048602

    Sew the strap in place.

  26. Small record27 o 1300048618

Your bag should look like this.

  27. Small record28 o 1300049170

Turn it right side out and pull the strap out.

  28. Small record29 o 1300049260

Glue one side of a record with strong adhesive.

  29. Small record30 o 1300049211

You'll need quite a lot so make one circle of glue around the label and one around the outside of the record.

  30. Small record32 o 1300049255

Stick to one side of the bag and repeat with the second record on the other side.

  31. Small hpim5163 1300049494

Leave it to dry and you'r ready to rock!
