I love combat boots but they are too expensive for my frugal lifestyle. So I just happen to have the ugliest boots ever just gathering dust in my attic and tried so hard to not throw them away. So what else was there to do but to put my DIY cap on and get to work! As you can tell, I'm floored by the results! and yet it was so simple to do! So I captured my work to share with the world, hopefully this tutorial helps :]

Firstly get and old pair or boots that you don't mind messing up... simple right ;] I have these ugly pink Ed Hardy ones that I got for free so I wanted to experiment with them
Secondly, cut to desired length Mine were way too long so I cut them a few inches above my ankle bone
Now you can stop at step 2 and proceed to step 7 if you don't mind the unfinished look, but if you like a more polished look read on :]
Now to add a hem, this is a bit tricky. If the piece of your boot that was cut out has a trim on it rip that sucker out. You can reuse this on your newly cut boot, never put anything to waste ;]
After that you can just simply hot glue the strip onto the trim of your newly cut boot *DO NOT USE A SEWING MACHINE! If you are using thick leather boot's like these your needle can break! Unless you have an industrial sewing machine specifically used to sew leather, do not sew ... please
Vulva! you have a new pair or combat boots :] But we're not done yet . . .
Since these are the ugliest boots on the face of the planet I'm going to spray paint them This is totally optional you can stop at step 6 but in this step all you have to do is cover the areas you do not want paint on with duck tape
Paint to your liking and . . . TADA!! New revamped combat boots <3
