You Will Need (4 things)

  • Round Brush
  • Scissors
  • Cardstock
  • Yarn

Steps (9 steps, 15 minutes)

  1. 1

If all attemps to make pom poms have left you with little mops like this one, then continue reading.

There are only 3 points in making really round & fluffy pom poms:
    1. use paper disks
    2. prepare to use a lot of yarn ( a lot!)
    3. a secret tool!

  2. 2

Cut two identical disks from cardstock with a round opening at their center.

Cut several meters of yarn (not the whole length you are going to need for the pom pom, because it will become all tangled up when passing it through the center hole).

Tie a secure knot at any point, securing the two disks together.

  3. 3

Start wrapping the yarn around the disks, passing it through the center hole.

When you reach the end of the yarn, tie a knot and begin with a new long piece of yarn.

  4. 4

Continue until it's really difficult to get the yarn pass through the center.

  5. 5

Move the wrapped yarn a bit until you can see the opening between the two disks.

Place your scissors in the opening and cut along all yarn.

  6. 6

Carefully place a piece of yarn between the two disks and tie a double knot.

  7. 7

    Remove the disks.

  8. 8

Here comes the "secret" tool: your round hair brush!

Brush the little guy like there is no tomorrow in Brushing Land.
Brush, brush and then brush some more.

Trim with scissors any loose yarn.
    Done!

No more mops but fluffy adorable pom poms!
