Instructions

  1. Small 2013 02 05 14.22.03

Use an old chair. You have to sand and prime your chair expecially if it has a gloss finish applied to it.

  2. Small 2013 02 05 14.21.01

This will be your base color. Paint the whole chair this color. don't worry about imperfections this is a vintage style project.

  3. Small 2013 02 05 15.36.33

This is your second base color, dab on over the first coat of paint. You can add as much or as little as you would like.

  4. Small 2013 02 05 15.37.02

You're product should look something like this so far.

  5. Small 2013 02 05 16.06.25

This is your surface color. It is important that this color does not over power the base coats.

  6. Small 2013 02 05 15.37.59

This is where we do the ombre look. Start painting a the stop of the chair leg amd glide vertically all the way down, you want juat enough paint on the brush so it runs out before you reach the bottom of the leg.

  7. Small 2013 02 05 16.06.56

Don't worry about imperfections. We will be sanding, smoothing, and blending.

  8. Small 2013 02 05 17.14.58

Sand the whole chair smooth, while your doing this the colors should blendnl together at the seams creating a vintage/ ombre look.

  9. Small 2013 02 05 17.47.01

This part is optional. I used chalk board paint on the back board of my chair soi can write quoteson it. If you skip this step just paint the back board like you would the reat of the chair... probably with the base colors peeping out round the edges of the back board.

  10. Small 2013 02 05 16.32.17

Use thumb tacks and a cushion pad to secure your fabric of choice to the seat board. Pull the fabric tight around the cushion and the board and secure in the back with as many tacks as neccessary.

  11. Small 2013 02 05 16.49.22

Your end product should look something like this. Place the seat on chair and secure from underneath with nails, screws, or let the cushion just rest on the chair.

    Annnnnnnd you're done:)
