  • How to make a pair of clay earring. Rainbow Layered Cake Earrings (Polymer Clay) #1. - Step 1
    Step 1

First, choose some appropriate colors: These are the colors I used, except with a lighter blue. Save the white until the end....

If you want to, choose a separate color to add as sprinkles. A bright peppy pink or purple does well. Anyways, onward...

    Step 2

Next, make a flat circle the size of a quarter with the blue clay. You want to make it thicker or thinner depending on how large you want your cake to be. Repeat with all other colors except white (and sprinkle color if you chose one). Cut off excess clay to make a circle.

Here is a good example on the shape of your circles. I used red as an example.

  • Step 3

Now stack your circles. The order I used is:
    Blue
    Green
    Yellow
    Orange
    Red
Make sure they are firmly stuck together. Don't worry if the edges are smudged, you're gonna cover them anyway.
After you stack each circle, cut off excess clay. I do not have a good picture of the stacking process. D:
Once you are done, the cake should look like a full cake without the frosting. This will come very soon...be patient, oh young crafter.

  • Step 4

    FROSTING TIME.

AWRIGHT. Take a chunk of white clay and roll it out to about twice the size of a quarter. Wait just a sec! Make it the same thickness or thinner as your circles. Ok then...
Try and cover at least half the cake with the white clay circle. You're only going to need 2-4 pieces to make 1-2 pairs of earrings.
Smooth the frosting over both the top AND BOTTOM.

  • Step 5

    FINALLY...

Cut into the cake into 2-4 pieces. Honestly, you can cut these pieces as large as you want, but make at least 2 pieces.

    Last step! Hooray!
    *Optional*
Grab your lovely sprinkle clay and make the teeniest balls possible and press them lightly onto your cake. After baking, lightly coat your creation with clear nail polish. Now you have incredibly cute cake to go all around!

    <3 to all,

Thanks for the tip! Tongue I will remember to add that soon. Any other suggestions for more walkthroughs?

you shouldn't use clear nail varnish to varnish polymer clay because over time it softens it :')
