Quilling is an art in which you use strips of paper which is rolled, twisted, shaped and glued together to create a design. Colourful quilling designs look beautiful, attractive when they are a handmade craft. Making small Quilling designs are fun to make but if you want to make big designs then you require a lot of patience.
Quilling is an art in which you use strips of paper which is rolled, twisted, shaped and glued together to create a design. Colourful quilling designs look beautiful, attractive when they are a handmade craft. Making small Quilling designs are fun to make but if you want to make big designs then you require a lot of patience.
Before starting, just make a sketch of layered cake.This will help you to make quilling cake easily.I have made a sketch of layered cake as shown in the picture.
To make a base layer of the cake- Take 10 quilling strips of 5mm width & join each end to the other with glue.Then make a tight round coil.
If you want to make some designs on base cake then take a colour paper and cut small strips of 3.5 cm and paste it on base cake. If you don’t want to add design then leave as it is.
To make the middle part of the cake- For making 3 coils,take 6 quilling strips of width 5mm each and make 3 such tight round coils and glue them together. You can also use one 10mm & 5mm strips,which will give you 2 coils.
Again,you can add some design on the middle part of the cake. I’ve added spiral quilling design and a little bit of glitter. To make spiral design, just take a 2mm of quilling strips and make a tight coil,release it and glue the end point.As per your requirement, make such more spiral design and glue all the spiral designs on the side of the cake.Leave some space at the top of the cake to add some glitter.
The last part of the cake i.e.,the top part- Simply take 4 strips of 5 mm width and make such 2 tight round coil. Now to hide the joining line of the coils,glue a quilling strip of length 6.5 cm around the coil. Now attach a beautiful quilling rose flower on the side of the cake & two butterflies,one on the top of cake and another on the side of the cake.
Join all the parts.
