Delicious quick snack fix!
Sometimes called "people chow" to avoid confusion. You would NOT want to feed this to your pets.

I make the BEST puppy chow out of anybody I know, and all of my friends agree. I saw that there was a tutorial for this on the site already, but there weren't measurements or pictures or anything to go with it!

Edit--
Okay...seeeeriously? Something's totally wrong with the "You Will Need" section, and I've been fighting it for like ten minutes.

So here is how much you'll need of each
1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup of Creamy Peanut Butter
1 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
4 tbsp unsalted butter (half a stick)
9 cups chex mix cereal

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 1
    Step 1

First, measure out nine cups of cereal into the large ziplock bag. (Yeah, I use tupperware instead because I'm too lazy to transfer it out of the bag and into the tupperware haha. Same results, papi, chill.)

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 2
    Step 2

Measure out your chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter and place all three into a microwave-safe bowl. (If you're feeling frisky, add some extra peanut butter. DON'T JUDGE, IT'S A LIFESTYLE CHOICE.)

  • Step 3

Microwave for one minute! You don't need to cover the bowl. Nothing explosive and messy should happen unless your microwave is more like an nuclear bomb than an actual microwave. Then I guess you're screwed whether you cover it or not, anyway.

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 4
    Step 4

Yum! Take that beautiful mixture out and...ew. It looks awful! That's okay. Mix it up until it looks delicious. (It should already SMELL amazing.)

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 5
    Step 5

Ta-da! Told you it wouldn't look disgusting for long. :) Now add your vanilla and mix again.

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 6
    Step 6

Pour this entire mixture (that is, if you weren't tempted to sample a little on your finger...) over your cereal and close the bag or put the lid on the tupperware, in my case. Shake shake shake shake shake! Shake until each piece is coated well with your chocolate-peanut buttery mixture.

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 7
    Step 7

Stop! You still have to resist eating for one more step!

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 8
    Step 8

Pour in your powdered sugar and shake like crazy again. This should make it easy to eat your puppy chow without coating your fingers in melted chocolate. Unless you're into that. I guess.

  • How to cook pet food. Puppy Chow - Step 9
    Step 9

Your puppy chow should look something like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's done now. Dig in. Enjoy. :)

I made this on Friday. It's sooo good. Except I used life brand cereal, and I shook to hard so some of it got crumbled :/ But it still tasted awesome. Must make more.

Thank you so much for sharing this! My Mom used to make this all the time but did not leave any recipe behind (she passed away 10 years ago) and I wanted to share this treat with my son and will be making this soon.
