I needed a purse-size stash box for the little things, since I carry a rather large purse and I ended up losing small things (like my lighter) all the time. I came up with this idea to use a leftover Pringles container to stash my stuff in. Doubles as a pencil holder!
I needed a purse-size stash box for the little things, since I carry a rather large purse and I ended up losing small things (like my lighter) all the time. I came up with this idea to use a leftover Pringles container to stash my stuff in. Doubles as a pencil holder!
First, gather your supplies. I realize there are some missing in this photo, but you get the idea.
Next, eat your Pringles and clean out the container (I just took a baby-wipe to the inside to get all the crumbs out)
Measure the size of the container and cut out your fabric. Make sure it is maybe an inch longer than height of the container, and when wrapped around the container it overlaps each end like a seam. (Sorry, I do not have a pic for this step, I forgot to take one). If the colour of the container shows through the fabric, cut and wrap it in plain white paper and tape it to the container before gluing.
Take off the lid and begin gluing the fabric around the top rim only. You'll end up gluing the bottom in a later step. You do not need to make it perfect since ribbon will be hiding it (my fabric already had some ribbon attached). Make sure you begin gluing just below where the lid sits, or it won't fit properly.
The bottom rim should not be glued, and as stated above, the fabric should be about an inch longer than the container itself.
Do not glue the seam just yet either.
Begin pulling the fabric tightly and glue the excess fabric to the bottom of the container...
...until it looks like this.
Now you can fix up your seam with glue, and add a ribbon to the upper rim.
Trace the lid onto a separate piece of fabric with your pencil, and cut out that shape...
...but make sure to cut it slightly smaller than the size of the lid.
Glue this piece over the bottom to hide the flaws.
Turn over, put whatever you want inside it, and replace the lid, and you're done! A cute and reusable stash container, that fits perfectly in your purse!
