This is a project from Mark Montano's "Big Ass Book of Crafts". It's pretty easy to do, and it looks great when you're done! The book says to use postcards but you could also use magazine clippings, photographs, decorative paper, ect. In my case I ended up going through art school catalogs and picking out my favorite pictures. If you do plan on doing this project, I would recommend glueing cardstock to the back of thin pictures. It helps to keep the paper nice and flat when you are sewing pieces together. I'll try and get a better picture when the lighting is less weird. :]
