  • How to make a hair bow. Polk A Dot Bows - Step 1
    Step 1

Gather all of your tools. The lace pictured here was gifted to me, so I do not know what brand it is. :(

    Step 2

The is for a LARGE bow.

Measure out 4 pieces of tape about 3 1/4"-3 1/2" long. Use the fine tip marker to mark it, if need be.

    Step 3

After you have the 4 pieces, take 2 of them and stick them together. The pieces need to be horizontal and the long edge should overlap about 1/4". Do the same with the other 2 pieces.
You can use an xacto knife to trim up any edges and gently pop any air bubbles you might find. The tape needs to be nice and smooth.

Next cut a thin strip (about 3" long, 1/4" wide), this will be used as the center of the bow. Fold the tape sheet accordion style. Wrap the strip snugly around the center of the sheet. And you're done! :D

**You can save the rest of the tape for other bows or cover the edges for a cleaner look.**

    Step 5

If you want to make a LITTLE bow, just cut 2 pieces of tape 2 1/4"-2 1/2" long. Assembly like the large bow and you're done! :D

    Step 6

I fancified (is that even a word??) most of the bows with some scrap lace I had.
You add the lace between the tape.(Make sure to press hard!)
You can give it a fuller lace edge or cut the lace in half for "just enough" lace.

    Step 7

Now that you have the bows, do whatever you want with them! Add them to a headband (my daughter the model, lol), glue it to a pin or clip, or you can thread a chain or satin necklace through it. :)

Enjoy the whimsy of the bows.
