If you don’t sew in the velcro you could pin these and they will truly be a one size fits all pocket diaper. But these particular diapers are sewn specifically for a 12 month old. I thought the velcro would be easiest for the caregivers. I got the pattern from Rita’s Rump.

Cut out the outside and inside of diaper. Cut 2 pieces of velcro between 4 and 5 inches long. I used flannel for the outside and fleece for the inside.
Sew the softer side of the velcro onto the outside front panel on the right side of the fabric.
Use a scrap of fabric as a stabilizer. Sew using a zigzag stitch.
Sew soft side of the second piece of 4-5 inch velcro on the right side of the wing.
I know it seems odd but you are going to fold one of the wings over to hold the front panel and the other wing onto this wing to hold the waste of the diaper up. It will make more sense later. Use a scrap of fabric to stabilize this velcro as well.
Sew the rough side of the velcro to both wings on the right side of the inside fabric. Use a stabilizer.
Trim off the stabilizers.
Sew elastic into the back of the pocket. Sew the elastic (pulling it as tight as you can about 1.5 cm from the edge).
Fold over a 1cm seam allowance and top stitch down. Fold over and top stitch a 1cm seam along the fabric that will be the inside diaper too.
Now sew the elastic into the leg openings. In this tutorial I will show you how to sew the elastic into the leg without a ruffled edge. Mark your fabric about 1cm in with a pen in a few places to be sure that you sew the elastic straight. then tack the elastic using a zigzag stitch at the beginning. Sew using a 3 point zigzag pully the elastic as tightly as you can. Then tack the end of the elastic down. Repeat on the other leg opening.
Pin the right sides together.
Sew the diaper leaving a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Pulling the elastic leg openings as you sew. Do not sew the pocket opeings together but do sew right up to the edges of the pocket openings.
Cut off the excess fabric.
Turn the diaper and top stitch all around using a 1 cm seam allowance. Do not top stitch the pocket openings. You already hemmed those. I rolled the elastic edge inside and stitch around it. Pulling it and trying not to catch the elastic in the top stitch.
Voila’. Now stuff this pocket diaper with an infant prefold, or pocket type insert and do not forget to use a diaper cover or a wool soaker.
