I saw a girl at my school holding a tiny stuffed bear to her face and I was so confused. Then I got a closer look, and saw it was a phone case! It was the most adorable thing ever!! However, upon looking online, the cases (the cute ones anyways) were $20-$30... When they looked simple enough to make...So I gave it a shot! This was my practice try, and I'll probably make another one in the near future since I finally figured out how to go about doing this. But here's how I did it :3

However, upon looking online, the cases (the cute ones anyways) were $20-$30... When they looked simple enough to make...So I gave it a shot! This was my practice try, and I'll probably make another one in the near future since I finally figured out how to go about doing this. But here's how I did it :3
So first step is to gather your important materials! You'll need a small stuffed animal and a phone case. The case I used was a bit weird; it's a knock off otterbox. It's a silicone outing that wraps around a cheap plastic interior. But the way I did this would require a silicone phone case. But I'm sure you could use a hard one and just glue it...but I don't know. Don't take my word for it. Also, I would choose one that has matching colors. But I didn't have a yellow phone case. I'll probably eventually just paint this one yellow though lol.
Now when choosing your stuffed animal you want to make sure it's a bit bigger then your phone case. You also want to make sure the back is relatively flat and you can lay your phone on the back of it easily. I'd also try and refrain from stuffed animals wearing clothes unless the clothes are like completely attached to the plush. Unless when you cut the back you want to sew the clothes to the animal along the edges first.
Now make two marks on the back of your stuffed animal and cut a rectangle down the back. Make your the length smaller then you think. It's alot easier to cut off more if it's too small then to fix it if you cut too much!! Don't get scissor happy Loves!!
You might need to take out some of the stuffing, but put it aside in case you take too much out. Just take out enough to fit your phone.
Alright now time to start widening the hole to fit your phone. Place it in so the length fits, then gradually start snipping the top and bottom to make the rectangle wider.
Now you want some extra fabric to fit the sides of the case, so do the cutting step slowly!! When you have a small rectangle where your phone can barely fit, cut the corners diagonally just just barely so the edges of the fabric fit your phone like shown.
The black rectangle is your cut that barely fits your phone, and the red is the slits you cut to make the edges fit around the case :) I drew a quick picture to help show where to cut. Remember, it's easier to add more! Cut a tiny bit at a time!!
Now take your needle and thread and begin quickly hemming the edges of where you cut. Don't worry about making this too neat, you'll be sewing over the same area later. This just keeps everything in place.
Do this to all of the sides, but not the slits you cut (the red in the drawn image)
Now the back of your stuffed animal should look something like this. Go ahead and stick your phone case and phone in there and make sure it all fits.
It fits? Awesome! Now it's time to sew some more. Take your needle and thread and begin sewing your case to the rims of the fabric. Sew the tops together first. Now when you sew along the top edges, make sure your stitches are straight, small, and close together. Make these a neat as possible. When you get the top edges done, go ahead and put your phone in there to make sure it all fits.
Now when you get to the side with any buttons or switches, only sew along the bottom. This leaves a small pouch for you to slip a finger inside and use the buttons or have your charger reach the plug.
This is where I left a small opening to reach my volume controls.
Then you can start sewing the bottom! Unlike when you sewed the top, you can make these a bit sloppier. But still keep them straight, though you can make them longer.
Now unlike the top stitch, these stitches should go along the entire case. Now if you need to (if the stuffed animal looks a little floppy around the edges) then stick some of the stuffing you pulled out back into it. Now put your phone in there and see how it fits!
Now you're done! My edges are a bit wavy because I was rushing and didn't keep it even so some of the edges go up higher lol But learn from my mistakes! Keep it all even :)
