This is a great project. You could make these wings sew or no sew. For the sewn version, lay out your felt or fleece and cut it out in a wing shape. I made ladybug wings and fairy wings. Then I sandwich the felt/fleece down onto the batting and topstitch the whole sandwhich. I added some sparkle fabric for the centers. Then, I sew on the fat elastic for the arm holders. If I didn't sew or was in a huge hurry, I would just cut out the wings either out of a double layer of stiffened felt or out of 2 layers of felt with a layer of the really stiff interfacing (the stuff you use for purses). Then, I would either iron the stack together with craft fuse, fabric glue it, or use hot glue. The great thing about these wings is that they don't run. Those wings made out of nylons always get holes in them and I don't really like my little one to have wire. These are soft, simple, and so easy to make. You can easily make a pair of wings for under $3-$4. Some other ideas, glue flowers or a huge bow onto the center. You could also make these for a B-day party in white and let the girls go crazy coloring their own wings with fabric makers. How fun! For younger girls, you could let them decorate the wings with those foam stickers. They even have glitter foam stickers.

Place either batting or stiff interfacing over your doubled fleece/felt.
Cut out a wing shape freehand. Sandwich the batting/interfacing between the layers of fleece/felt.
Top stitch around the perimeter of the wings. Trim
Applique on spots.
On front of wings, stitch down 2 pieces of elastic for arms.
