Description

This butterflies might trick you from afar! Use them as props or even as headwear on a headclip.

Instructions

  1. Small 111524 2f2015 10 16 000128 dsc0534

Gather your materials. I found this bottle that has no waves or other shapes. You can use plastic from packaging or any other rigid plastic that won`t break if bended.

  2. Small 111524 2f2015 10 16 000136 dsc0542a

Start by taping the clear plastic, outer side down ,to the butterfly design of your choice. Freehand the design if you`d like. Begin only filling the colors that will show first. Tip: dont rub the paint and do two or three coats to prevent from showing the black paint.

  3. Small 111524 2f2015 10 16 000140 dsc0546a

Once your butterfly has all its colors on its wings, fill the whole drawing with black acrylic paint. Do two coats and let dry.

  4. Small 111524 2f2015 10 16 000149 dsc0554a

Finally cut the shape being careful with the antenna. Fold in half good sides inside, the curvarture of the bottle will help with the wings and the shape. Lastly, fill any spaces with black paint if needed and add a coat of modgepodge or any other type of protective glue.

Ta-da! Use them as props, glue them on a clip for a hair piece, make a butterfly display for a sience project, and ENJOY!
