My sister was going to a party where she had to dress up as something she wanted to be when she was younger. A pirate costume seemed the perfect answer!
I made the shirt out of my brother's old school shirt. I cut of the sleeves and made a criss-cross thing (almost like a lace-up) out of brown ribbon.
The skirt was a normal skater skirt made out of reddish fabric, with some black lace on the bottom.
The waistcoat was also made from scratch, I downloaded the template from: http://www.quadrille.co.uk/sewingbee/patterns, and followed the instructions from there. I also added some gold buttons to make it look more pirate-y
Finally, add a pirate hat, a belt and maybe a cutlass
