A simple, decorative way to take in a tank top
This is such an easy technique to remove a little extra material in an attractive way. You could use this method to alter a tank top that is a little too large, or start with a t-shirt and cut off the sleeves and collar first.

    Start with a tank top that is too large, or a t-shirt with the sleeves and collar cut off.

    Cut open the shoulder seams.

    Fold vertically from collar to hem and sew about 1/8-inch from the edge, straight down. Repeat this, folding in a different place and creating more pintucks until your tank top fits. You can safety pin the shoulders together to try in on while you're working.

    Once you have absorbed enough excess fabric with pintucks, sew the the shoulder seams back together. Leave edges raw or hem as desired.
