Create a natural pin-up look with a little extra help from Timid Lashes.
I forwent the usual pin-up makeup route of smoky eyes and tons of detail and stuck with a routine that matches my everyday look but with a little bit of oomph. Most products can even be found at the drugstore!

Disclosure: Timid lashes were sent to me for free in exchange for a super cool tutorial. No monetary compensation was exchanged and all opinions are my own.

  • How to create a pin-up makeup look. Pin Up Makeup Tutorial Ft. Timid Lashes - Step 1
    Step 1

I started with a blank face and smothered on some moisturizer and scrubbed my lips. (This is optional in case you already have flawless skin, which I do not.)

    Step 2

My first make-up step was to use my foundation/concealer of choice and give my face a flawless start. I also went ahead and filled in my eyebrows with a pencil. However you begin your face will do!

All products used on my face so far:

Next I sweeped a shimmery neutral shadow all over my lid and just above my crease.

I took a silver eyeliner (just to switch things up) and drew along my lower waterline with that.

    Step 6

I went in with my favorite highlighter color and hit a few different areas of my eye. (See next photo for details)

    Step 7

I used the highlighter along my brow, inner corner, under my lower lashes, and finally a dab in the center of my eyelid. What can I say, I like lots of shimmer!

    Step 8

My least favorite step was using my black eyeliner pencil to draw a perfect wing. (I've tried other products like gel and liquid and find that they smear all over my eye throughout the day. If you prefer them, go for it!)

    Step 9

The winged eyeliner part was my least favorite because they will alway come out two different lines. *sigh*

    Step 10

My eyes aren't done, but I'm gonna skip over to my face. I added a pinky blush to the apples of my cheeks and a very light bronzer to my cheekbones (simply to define them).

    Step 11

More highlighter, please! This time I added it to the top of my cheeks and blended it in.

(If you have oily skin, you're totally welcome to skip all the shimmer I used and just use matte products. I have very dry skin and welcome any shine my skin can get!)

After putting on some red lipstick (no picture available, but you believe me, right?) I dabbed even more highlighter just on the center of my lips.

Things are about to get interesting! It's time for adding the Timid lashes.

    Step 19

There are a few methods for putting these one, but the following worked best for me.

I took the supplied glue and brushed a thin coat of glue onto the lash. I wiped off any excess onto my hand.

    Step 20

True to most methods, I blew on the lashes and waited about 20 seconds for the glue to get just tacky enough to apply.

    Step 21

I then carefully applied the lashes. (But not careful enough) You will note that my left eye is slightly skewed on the inner corner. That is completely my own fault because I'm not yet a false eyelash whiz. The glue was pretty strong so I didn't want to take it off and try again. I don't think it was too huge and noticeable though?

I used some mascara to seal my real lashes to the false ones.

The I curled the lashes together. Boy could the Timid lashes hold a curl!

The last step is to check yourself out in the mirror. I'm pretty obsessed with the final look!
