My 'mother in law' has so much stuff in her house that it's nearly a secondhand store. She's clearing out the place bit by bit and I get offered lots of stuff. Sometimes I come home with things that I have forgotten why I said 'yes' to it.... This candelabrum is among those things. I thought it was ugly enough to use for a larp character of mine. I play in a group where we can use lots of kitschy stuff but this thing was even too ugly for that. It needed color to fit in. So I took my glass paints and set to work. The time it took me to paint this thing is without drying time for the paints (3 hours) and includes an intermezzo of tea with cake.

Get an ugly candelabrum that has transparent plastic/glass beads. This one also has a wrapped around string of tiny beads. At first I thought to color those too, or replace them with something more colorful but just painting the large beads was enough.
Gather materials: - Newspaper or something discardable to protect your work surface. - Glass paints. At leas the three primary colors (red, yellow, blue) - Something to mix your colors in. Some plastic container that will get thrown away anyway (this one contained an assortment of beads once) - Brush(es)
Decide which colors will go where. I went for a rainbow theme, as you can see, but you can do anything you like. I had 1 red, 2 shades of orange, 1 yellow in the 'arms'. Light green, dark green, blue, blueish purple and reddish purple on the 'foot'. I only own the three primary colors plus black and white glass paints. I did not use the white or black in this project. (Even though the white is opened in the picture of step 2)
