CO 20 sts
Row 1: knit across Row 2: knit to last 2, turn and knit to end. Row 4: knit to last 4, turn and knit to end. row 6: knit to last 6, turn and knit to end. Row 8: knit to last 8, turn and knit to end. Row 10: knit to last 10, turn and knit to end. Row 12: knit to last 12, turn and knit to end. Row 14: knit to last 14, turn and knit to end. Row 16: knit to last 16, turn and knit to end.
Attach the black yarn and knit 2 rows. Repeat rows 1-16 with black yarn.
Continue in this way (repeat steps 2 and 3) until you have 6 purple and 6 black stripes, ending with a black stripe. With the last black stripe knit over all stitches and BO.
Join purple and black edge together with mattress stitch. And close the center gap.
