  • How to make a pouch, purse or wallet. Pencil Case Tute! - Step 1
    Step 1

First you will want to print out your image. I printed mine 5" by 7", but You just need to printe it whatever size you want your applique to be.
Trace your image onto Heat N' Bond.
I traced the outline of the dog, and then on another part of the heat bond I traced the outline of collar & nose. I used googly eyes, but if you want to sew on your eyes, you need to trace them now.

Peel off the backing of the collar & nose & iron them onto your dog. or if you are using a different image, you will want to iron on the top layers of your image.
note, dont peel off the backing of the bottom layer of your image, or it will stick to your ironing board. :o and that would not be good, lol

set aside your design for now.
Now you need to cut out your fabric for your pencil case. I used one big piece & folded it in half. but you can always use two pieces & sew them together. I cut my fabric 9" by 11", so once its folded in half it is 9" by 5 & 1/2".

next you want to sew on your zipper. I've never been great at sewing on zippers, so I'm just gonna give you this link on how to easily sew on a zipper. :)

next you will want to sew up the seams. be sure the zipper is open, you that you can flip it right side out.

and you are all finished! I used mine as a pencil case. but you could always use it as a wallet, make-up bag, you could even sew handles on it & make it a small purse! feel free to personalize it! I think if I make another one, I might embroider something on it. :)

I'd love to see yours if you made one! leave a link to it in the comments! :)
